POSITION PURPOSE
Building upon the existing 600 Visit Indy Partners, this role plays a key part in attracting, recruiting and retaining local businesses, corporations, and nonprofits for Visit Indy’s dues-paying partner program. Through strategic engagement, Visit Indy partnerships are cultivated year after year, ensuring each partner fully leverages the benefits of being an official Visit Indy partner, helping each partner attract visitors and drive business growth. By hosting and attending networking events across the city, this role will highlight Visit Indy’s commitment to supporting local businesses while reinforcing the importance of its mission in driving economic growth and tourism to the city, ultimately benefiting Visit Indy partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Research, contact, and secure partnerships with local businesses, including decision-makers in industries like restaurants, bars, hotels, museums, coffee shops, and retail, to highlight the benefits of becoming an official Visit Indy Partner.
  • Develop and maintain a potential partner prospect list, tracking inquiries throughout the sales process, ensuring timely follow-ups to maintain momentum to convert them to a paying partner.
  • Once a Visit Indy Partner joins, conduct the on-boarding process, including orientation and Partner Portal set-up.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with existing partners to ensure satisfaction and continued value of their participation in the program with regular check-ins.
  • Track partner engagement and satisfaction to identify growth opportunities.
  • Write copy for monthly email marketing messaging, communicating the impact of tourism, upcoming events and other timely updates to all partners.
  • Maintain the current Visit Indy Partnership Kit, a marketing tool to help sell the benefits of becoming an official Visit Indy Partner.
  • Manage the “Visiting All Neighborhoods” program alongside the City of Indianapolis, a program to help uncover visitors’ attractions within all neighborhoods across the city.
  • Network within the community, promoting the benefits of our work and the partnership program.
  • Educate partners on available benefits and program opportunities, including Daily Deals, Show Us Your Badge, and inclusion on VisitIndy.com.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Visit Indy Partner Events (new partner luncheons, quarterly partner events, hosting at sporting events, etc.), managing all event logistics like venues, menu details and vendors, with a preference for souring from existing Visit Indy partners.
  • Create partner surveys to assess satisfaction and gather feedback for improving future partner events.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all partner data stored within Visit Indy’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for effective engagement, tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain Visit Indy’s Partnership Portal, providing partners with access to Indy tourism information and partner benefits.
  • Collaborate with Visit Indy’s finance team, conducting monthly follow-ups with Partners on invoices and sponsorship agreements ensuring partner-generated revenue is maintained year-over-year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, tourism, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience working in strategic marketing, communications, and/or sales preferred.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to problem-solve, using judgment consistent with company standards, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Attention to details, with the ability to multitask and stay highly organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skills in interacting with a variety of stakeholders (customers, employees, vendors, and community members), both individually and in groups.
  • Ability to write clear and effective reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other business communications.
  • Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues and provide logical recommendations.
  • Competent in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet browsers, and email systems.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Flexibility to work non-routine hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • This position requires some physical activity, such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; it requires occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving (up to 35 pounds).
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to move in and between various facilities and handle exposure to inclement weather.
  • Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing, and dexterity.
  • Good speaking and listening skills.
  • Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, and phones.
  • Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence.
