POSITION PURPOSE
Assist the Convention Sales Team in daily tasks and special projects needed to position Indy as a top meeting and convention destination to key meeting planners, ultimately supporting the efforts to book and re-book convention business. The Convention Sales intern will work approximately 20 hours per week. All Visit Indy team members reflect the organization’s “3 Ps” culture – productive, positive, and progressive.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Support Sales daily activities as assigned
  • Coordinate logistical items to support Sales Customer Site Visits
  • Participate in Business Development Team Research
  • Enhance, develop, and maintain Sales tools and resources through research and data maintenance
  • Participation in Convention Sales team meeting and partner meetings as needed
 
    OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Support in design, execution, and evaluation of assigned customer FAMS, events and conventions as needed
  • Coordination of tradeshow evaluation reports and findings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
 
  • Enrollment in an event management, tourism, hospitality, or related degree program required
  • Completion of at least three semester of a degree program
  • A student member of a collegiate chapter of a professional organization preferred, but not required

  • Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact with a variety of managers, employees, candidates, vendors, and the general public, both on a one-on-one basis and in groups
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
