Position Purpose
Visual Communications Manager is responsible for capturing and sharing timely and compelling video and photo content in support of showcasing Indy as a tourism destination. All Visit Indy team members reflect the organization’s “3 Ps” culture – productive, positive, and progressive.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct, shoot, and edit original video content to market Indy, including:
- Consumer Video: Capture the people, attractions, restaurants, culture, and art making Indy a must-see tourism destination,
- Convention Video: Produce content in support of selling Indy as a convention and major event destination.
- Visit Indy Video: Showcase the power of the tourism industry by producing videos that deliver Visit Indy’s key messages and mission.
- Collaborate with marketing team to concept new ideas for leveraging visual storytelling.
- Package and distribute Visit Indy video to partners, meeting planners, and media outlets.
- Take still photography; direct talent/subjects to get beautiful imagery.
- Maintain existing equipment and recommend new equipment to enhance efforts.
- Manage outside relationships with production companies and talent agencies.
- Represent Visit Indy positively while working with key strategic partners and internal customers.
- Attend and organize regular meetings with all stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, new media design, graphic arts, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
- One to two years of video experience required.
- Experience working with Final Cut Studio and the Adobe Design Suite necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills; possess accuracy in data entry and business communications.
- Ability to effectively utilize communication skills to adequately interact with various community members and leaders including CEOs and other high-level positions while shooting videos.
- Ability to focus on details, problem-solve, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to conceptualize and tell effective stories through video and photography.
- Working knowledge of video cameras and equipment, and audio recording and mixing.
- Understanding of electronic media, social media and web video strategies.
- Understanding of color correction/grading, video enhancement techniques, and broadcast quality control with video and audio levels.
- Ability to work nonstandard work hours when necessary (evenings, weekends, etc.).
- Proficient computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Internet browsers, and e-mail systems.
Physical Demands
- This position requires some physical activity, such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; it requires occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving (up to 60 pounds).
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to move in and between various facilities and handle exposure to inclement weather.
- Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing, and dexterity.
- Good speaking and listening skills.
- Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence.
